Apple Watch Series 7: Everything you need to know

Apple Watch Series 7: Everything you need to know

Apple’s new Watch Series 7 is now out, and we’re putting it to the test for our review. While the Apple Watch Series 7 does not include a significant makeover, it does include a bigger display with a curved edge, as well as some stunning new models and finishes. If you’re considering placing an order, here’s what you need to know.

When did the Apple Watch Series 7 become available?

Following last year’s departure from precedent, there was significant debate about whether Apple would release the Series 7 alongside the newly revealed iPhone 13 range. However, the company’s 14 September ‘California Streaming’ event not only introduced a new Apple Watch and iPhones, but also new iPads (including a long-awaited update to the iPad Mini range).

Apple has remained mum on the rumored production issues plaguing the Series 7 (according to separate reports from Nikkei and Bloomberg), but the fact that the company only announced the watch’s unveiling with a “later this fall/autumn” general availability window suggests that such hearsay may be true.

Specifications and features

  • A more brilliant display
  • USB Type-C cable
  • Full-size keyboard

Like Series 6, the Watch Series 7 has an 18-hour battery life but comes with a USB Type-C connection for quicker charging. The second significant improvement is that the bigger and brighter display enables the Watch Series 7 to have a Full Keyboard with QuickPath, which simplifies message responding.

Unlike previous Apple Watch models, the Series 7 does not have any new hardware sensors, however, watchOS 8 does provide several new functions. Fall Detection is now available for exercises, including cycling, and cycling workouts have been improved, with the Watch now able to identify when you begin a riding session. Additionally, the Workout app now includes Pilates and Tai Chi.

Respiratory Rate is also included in watchOS 8, and the Apple Watch can unlock additional features. Rather than only unlocking your Mac or iPhone when a face mask is detected, it may also function as a digital key for other purposes, such as unlocking your house if you have a suitable lock.

Pricing

Apple has already said that the Apple Watch Series 7 will begin at $399 for the entry-level 41mm metal model with GPS. Pricing for other variants has not been verified by the business.

Apple Watch Series 6 stainless steel models begin at $749, while titanium models begin at $849. Whether or whether the Series 7 maintains this price structure remains to be seen, but we’ll be sure to update this storey as more information becomes available.

Fitness

Contrary to rumor, the Apple Watch 7 will retain the same sensor suite as the Watch 6, which means we won’t see any alleged blood pressure or glucose sensors this year. It will retain a number of useful functions, such as blood oxygen and heart rate monitoring, in addition to the ECG. Additionally, WatchOS 8 introduces the new Mindfulness app, which will include meditation sessions accessible via the Fitness Plus app. Additionally, if you’re a cyclist, the Apple Watch 7 will be able to monitor whether or not you fall off your bike, but we do not suggest testing this feature.

To Conclude

As you can see, there are still some critical facts about the Apple Watch Series 7 that we don’t know, particularly about cost and configuration possibilities. Apple should, in theory, create an online “Apple Watch Studio” over the next two days to let consumers learn more about their selections ahead of Friday morning pre-orders.
