Informer scheme: To curb female foeticide, incentive amount increased to Rs 3 lakh in Rajasthan

Jaipur: Rajasthan Health Minister Dr Raghu Sharma said that with an objective to make awareness about saving daughters within the society and to extend social participation, the motivation amount under the informer scheme has been increased to Rs 3 lakh from Rs 2.50 lakh from April 1. He said that within the coming days, sonography centres are going to be made within the selected 332 Community Health Centres (CHCs) within the state.

Dr Sharma was addressing the State Supervisory committee meeting at Swasthya Bhawan. He said that effective compliance with PCPNDT Act is being ensured to stop sex determination and to save lots of daughters within the State.

The Health Minister said that earlier under the Informer Scheme, an incentive of Rs 2.50 lakh was given in three installments on receiving information associated with sex determination, but now making it more practical, an incentive of Rs 3 lakh are going to be paid in two installments to the informer, decoy pregnant woman and her companion on successful decoy operation. He said that at the time of buying sonography machines, a buy-back system should be adopted in order that new machines with the newest technique are purchased by returning old machines.

Health Secretary Siddharth Mahajan said that at the present 3,748 registered sonography centres are within the State including 265 government centres and three ,483 within the private sector. He said that this year around 1,220 centres are inspected thus far under the PCPNDT Act.

In the year 2021, till now two sonography centres are seized by conducting three decoy operations and 7 people are arrested. Till now a complete of 158 decoy operations were conducted and 170 culprits are arrested.

Pcpndt Project Director Shalini Saxena said that an outsized number of decoy operations couldn’t be conducted in 2020-21 during the corona period watching the possible infection of the pregnant women and health risk of foetus and also thanks to the corona guidelines issued by the Centre and therefore the government and lockdown imposed from time to time.

She also said that technical processes are completed for creating registration completely online within the State of manufacturers, dealers, distributors etc of sonography machines. Soon the registration process are going to be made online and therefore the registration certificate are going to be provided online to the applicant. On this occasion, posters were released today for the publicity of the Informer Scheme to the overall public.
