As we head into the long Diwali weekend, it is only fair to kickstart the festivities with a Friday night binge. A new movie releases on Amazon Prime Video, which along with shows and movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar are in our today’s suggestions. Interestingly, today is also Juhi Chawla’s birthday, so we’ve picked out one of her best performances for you to binge on. Take your pick.
5 best shows and movies on Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video to watch today
1. DELHI BELLY – NETFLIX

This action comedy does not give you time to breathe. In its run time of an hour and 40 minutes, there’s barely a moment when something new or exciting does not happen. Right from the comedy to the action and storytelling (including the twists) have made this a great film. Released almost a decade ago (2011) Delhi Belly is very relevant and hilarious even in today’s times.
2. CHHALAANG – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

The second instalment of Rajkummar Rao’s blasting Diwali releases, after Ludo on Netflix, Chhalaang is directed by Hansal Mehta. This social comedy joins the list of movies on Amazon Prime Video. It follows the rather simple life of a PT teacher, Mahendra Singh Hooda aka Montu, at a government funded school in North India. The only thrill in his life is offered when a seemingly perfect guy steps into the life of his long time crush and wooes her away.
3. DARR – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

Juhi Chawla celebrates her 53rd birthday today, hence we would like to bring back one of her best on-screen performances in the form of Darr. This movie about lust, obsession and crime is centered around Rahul’s obsession with Kiran, played by Juhi Chawla. This movie also birthed the extremely popular dialogue K..K..Kiran. In fact, a Hollywood remake by the name Fear, starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg, was also inspired from this one.
4. JEFFREY EPSTEIN: FILTHY RICH – NETFLIX

Jeffrey Epstein was a rich entrepreneur in America during the late 90s and early 2000s. Unfortunately, his infamous child molestation and sexual acts were more popular than his successful business ventures. The 4-part documentary takes you through file footage of the case and can be slightly disturbing to watch. It shares the stories of sexual abuse, rape and the misuse of power and money.
5. DEADPOOL – DISNEY+ HOTSTAR

You don’t need a reason to binge on easy-going movies like Deadpool. They’re great stress busters, require minimal attention and are fully entertaining. This is also the formula for a great post-work relaxing binge. Deadpool is a comic, yet powerful character who is on a mission to avenge the man whose experiment left his face disfigured. Ryan Reynolds ideally plays Deadpool and does a wonderful job of portraying the sarcastic and witty Wade Wilson.
